When Maya found out she was pregnant at seventeen, she felt her world tilt. Her friends were applying to colleges, planning senior trips, dreaming big. She was suddenly drowning in doctor appointments, judgmental whispers, and a fear she couldn’t name.
But Maya made herself a promise: “My life isn’t ending. It’s changing.”
She finished high school through an online program, studying during nap times and late nights. Her guidance counselor helped her apply for a scholarship for young mothers, and she earned it. When she walked across the stage at her small graduation ceremony — her baby daughter in the audience with Maya’s mom — she felt something she hadn’t felt in months: pride.
Maya didn’t have everything figured out, but she had momentum. And that was enough to keep going.
My Story

The program that God placed in my heart is designed to help rebuild the family structure from the ground up. This structure will help create a stable path for single mothers to complete their education and serve as role models for their children. My daughter always reminds me, especially now, how much she appreciates how I, as a single mother, never gave up. She admires the faith I exemplified as a follower of Christ, as I shouldered the obligations of single parenthood and worked tirelessly to provide a stable home for our family.
I learned the true purpose of raising a child from the scripture (Proverbs 22:6, King James Version): “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Both of my children are excelling and growing by leaps and bounds, and I am quite excited about the prospects of their bright future guided by the Christian faith.
I wish to impart the faith, knowledge, and wisdom I have gained as a single parent to single and teen mothers to embolden them with the hope of a positive future., I believe in maintaining a positive mindset, creating partnerships with a purpose, and always striving for significant outcomes.
